The question is – People in love are called LOVE BIRDS and why not LOVE DOGS?
After quite a discussion with my very knowledgeable friend we came up with the following theory –
People who are in love are called Love Birds. That is coz we do not understand what the birds coo infact we can’t even hear it. It is quite low and feeble. Same is the case with the people in love. They are most of the time kuchi-cooing (as we call itJ). They use all the modes of communication possible to kuchikoo 365 X 24 X 7 – Letters (gone are those days), mobile phones, office landlines, Gtalk, Skype and in fact all of them. Least bothered about the world beyond each other. Aptly called Love Birds.
Let’s see when these people turn to Love Dogs. That is after they marry :). What do dogs do most the time – Bark? And very often we hear the married couples fight over trivial issues. In the initial days of marriage the fights are smaller and hardly audible. As the days pass, the sound gets louder and louder. If a couple married for say 10-12 yrs fight, the entire house can hear it. Growing in the same proportion a couple married for say 20yrs fight, the entire colony or neighborhood can hear it. And in these situations they will need a third party intervention just as the dogs need :)
